Sinopsis

Unlike Latin America, the East Asian region is composed of a group of developed
economies that practices a pragmatic combination of state interventions and
liberalization within a permanent framework of state institutional quality. It is
worth noting that some East Asian economies, such as Japan, enjoyed rapid economic
success; while others required the employment of additional measures
to improve that framework in advance. This book evaluates the contribution
of that framework to the economic success of the most developed East Asian
economies, such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and,
recently, China. Finally, some lessons on improving state institutional quality
will be proposed for Latin American countries.
